I sat down with the Egyptian government official in charge of the Egyptian citizenship by investment programme, and my agent on the ground who helps people apply, to discuss the government’s perspective on the programme.

I had a chat with Laszlo and Benedek about the newly announced golden visa in Hungary which would give investors access to the Schenghen Area.
It would appear that a €250,000 investment in a local real estate fund, or a €500,000 in a standalone property would qualify investors. We also discussed the potential impact on the Budapest real estate market.

The Egyptian citizenship just changed its most attractive option. One can now invest $300,000 IN ANY Egyptian real estate, both on the secondary market and off-plan from developers, to qualify for the Egyptian passport.
