The minimum investment amount for the Turkish CBI might increase to $500,000. There is no doubt that the Turkish citizenship by investment programme has been a success. Buy any real estate in Turkey for a total of $250,000, and get citizenship within a few months for you and your family.
However there are now strong rumors circulating that:
– The minimum investment threshold will soon be raised to somewhere between $350,000 and $500,000.
– The CBI programme itself might get cancelled in the medium term.
As always, good deals don’t last forever, and this programme qualifies as a great deal.
I made this video with Keith, my buyer’s agent in Istanbul, back in February (hence the lovely snow on the terrace). It gives you an idea of the value and yields you can get by investing in the secondary real estate market in Istanbul.
Don’t go for new buildings in Istanbul; value is in the secondary market.
Do bear on mind that since the video was edited, the Turkish Lira plummeted from 7 to 8.4, so the deals got even better.
You can watch the video here.
