Many people want to move to Europe for the unique lifestyle that it offers. I agree. Europe is great. However, moving to the European Union is generally quite complicated. This is where residency in Serbia comes in. Right on the EU borders, but not within the EU, Serbia offers a terrific European lifestyle without many of the EU-linked downsides.

Taxes are low, personal safety is very high, life is cheap, it’s fun, English is widely spoken, and the people are proud and outgoing. Also, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is booming.

I see Serbia as a great option for:
– People who want to live in Europe but don’t want to deal with EU complexity with regards to immigration, but also want to live in a big city as opposed to living in tranquil Montenegro.
– Business people who are attracted by Serbia’s booming Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) levels due to its unique position between East & West, and its ability to attract Russian, Chinese, Arab, and Western investment.
– Westerners escaping wokeness and who want to live in a more traditional environment.
– Young people who want to live in a very fun city – Belgrade.

In this video I interview Mr. Sekulovic, who works at a large, local law firm. There is a lot of misinformation online on how to obtain residency in Serbia. The reality is that yes, obtaining residency is easy. BUT, renewing it is not. We discussed the following topics to get a better understanding of the nuances around obtaining residency in Serbia

00:00 Introduction
00:18 The advantages of obtaining residency in Serbia
01:44 Residency in Serbia through real estate ownership
02:47 Renewing residency in Serbia
04:43 Residency in Serbia through company formation
07:12 Citizenship by exception in Serbia

As you can see, for the citizenship buffs, there is the possibility to obtain citizenship by exception.

You can watch the interview here.

You can find out more about Mr. Sekulovic and his law firm’s services here. I must warn you though that his law firm’s services are not cheap. They are definitely on the higher end of the market. You can find much more affordable options. However, I am of the opinion that due to the complexity around residency renewals in Serbia, one must use higher-end lawyers who specialize in helping foreigners.

At the end of the day, if you reduce your tax burden to Serbia’s 15% personal and corporate income tax rate, then the ROI is quick.
