If you set foot in Mexico anytime between 2010 and 2022 by flying in, you can qualify for the country’s regularization immigration path.
What is the Mexican regularization program?
It is a way to make illegal immigrants, legal. So you would be applying for immigration regularization by overstaying your visa.
This process entitles you to a 4-year temporary residency. A month before it expires, you can apply for permanent residency without minimum physical presence requirements as things stand. This permanent residency is truly permanent as it does not require you to set foot in Mexico to keep it valid.
Thereafter, if you wish, you can spend 18 out of 24 months in Mexico and apply for citizenship, or just keep this as a call option.
How does the Mexican regularization program work?
– All you need is a stamp in your passport (old or current) demonstrating that you set foot in Mexico between 2010 and 2022.
– The team will then check with the Mexican immigration database that your entry was properly registered.
– You then need to fly to Playa del Carmen for a bit less than 2 weeks to process the paperwork.
– The team will guide your through specific border posts where by default the Mexican authorities give short duration visas, thus resulting in you easily overstaying your visa.
– You need to do this before the end of 2024.
The fee per applicant is $3,000 + a bit less than $1,000 in government fees
As far as paths to permanent residencies go, it rarely gets easier and cheaper than this. Especially for such a large and pleasant country.
If you qualify and are interested in getting this done, the team can help. Send an email to mexico@thewanderinginvestor.com and include your Whatsapp number as well if you use it.
